Empowering lives. Growing Independence
Cairn was born from a love of the outdoors and a desire to share the feeling of adventure through new discoveries with others.
We thank you for your support as it has been, and continues to be, amazing to have the opportunity to share our passion with you. What might be most gratifying are the opportunities we have to grow our Cairn community and strengthen the relationships we’ve made.
Offering a subscription service requires devoting a week every month to prepping boxes for shipping – carefully selecting and arranging truly exciting products that we hope will inspire you to get outdoors. As we outgrew the garage we started in, we realized it was time to ask for help. And we could not have found better partners for this endeavor.
Abilitree is a unique organization that provides jobs, training, community service, and independent living opportunities for people with disabilities in Central Oregon. Since February, 2015, the amazing individuals at Abilitree have been our partners in sharing our passion for the outdoors with you.
For the first 7 months of our partnership, we got to host an awesome team full of smiles and excitement. They folded, stuffed, and arranged - from start to finish - all of the outdoor awesomeness that arrived at your doorstep. And they somehow always finished ahead of schedule (it might have had something to do with the celebratory ice cream party at the end).
As your support has continued to help us grow, so has the amount of time and effort involved with preparing your monthly Cairn. While the awesome Abilitree team no longer packs Cairn boxes each month, we've incorporated them into our business in other ways and will continue to do so.
We couldn’t be happier about the opportunity to work with such an incredible group of individuals, so we wanted to share just how proud we are of the partnership. And we're honored to have been recognized in 2015 with Abilitree's New Growth Employer Award.
If you’re interested in learning more about the organization or volunteer opportunities, please check out their website, www.Abilitree.org. They were named one of the 100 Best Nonprofits in 2014 by Oregon Business and have been around for 30 years; it’s truly an honor to work with them.
