As outdoor enthusiasts (and the good kids our parents raised), it's our responsibility to be good stewards to our global community and the natural environments we enjoy so much. Here are a few of the ways we're trying to make a positive impact.
Abilitree is a unique organization that provides jobs, training, community service, and independent living opportunities for people with disabilities in Central Oregon. Since February 2015, the amazing individuals at Abilitree have been Cairn's partners in sharing passion for the outdoors with subscribers. Each month, an awesome team full of smiles and excitement folded, stuffed, and arranged - from start to finish - all of the outdoor awesomeness that arrived at subscribers’ doorsteps.
As the Cairn community has continued to grow, so has the amount of time and effort involved with preparing the monthly Cairn boxes. While the awesome Abilitree team no longer packs Cairn boxes each month, Cairn has incorporated them into the business in other ways and will continue to do so.
Cairn is an active member of the Conservation Alliance, whose mission is to engage businesses to fund and partner with organizations to protect wild places for their habitat and recreation values. The Cairn Crew participates in the Backyard Collective events, which recently included lending a hand with the construction of the new Catch & Release Trail in the Deschutes National Forest.
Cairn values partnerships with brands that make giving back a core part of their business values. Examples have included: Luminaid Give Light, Get Light program, Salazon Chocolate Co. Trail Series (supporting the Triple Crown of National Scenic Trails), and Lasting Smiles Lip Balm (with every 1000 lip balms sold, one child receives the gift of a cleft lip or cleft palate surgery).
We're lucky to be surrounded by great people and organizations that have supported, guided, and educated the Cairn Crew along the way. Here are a few of the organizations we're fortunate to be a part of.
